Quickstart Incoming
Remember when I talked about my plan to completely overhaul the game? Well all that progress draws ever closer.
After a shitload of toil the new version of AFC is playable, and I am now working on packaging that up in a way that you can use.
I decided the best way to do that is to make a quickstart version of the game.
If you follow me on Bluesky you you already know about this, but I wanted to drop an update here too. The plan is to drop the quickstart on August 1st, right before Otherworlds Zine Fair.
I've spent the last 40 days in a mad dash to try and get as much playtesting done as possible. Refining the the play sheets, tweaking the wording on rules, practicing how to talk about the game, and developing an intro scenario. It's been hard, and I worry I won't complete it on time, but I'm determined. I keep reminding myself that the first version of the rule book went from stream of consciousness to formatted word dock in 3 months. I've done this before, I can do it again.
My plan is to deliver the bare bones version of the game, with only the essentials needed to play one shots and short campaigns. No long winded setting chapters, no complicated GM advice, and only a limited number of ships to choose from. I want something that shows off the game, and gets people hungry for more.
