This game was written on the lands
of the Worimi & Awabakal people.

Who have stood against crusaders and colonisers since long before my family came to this continent. 
And who continue to fight against those who would deny their sovereignty.

This was, is, and always will be their Sovereign lands.

The Holy Land, the cradle of many faiths.
For centuries men have fought to control it.
The current rulers hold an uneasy peace, but war looms...

Fanatics seek to cleans the Holy Land of pagans and heretics.
Second sons and greedy nobles lust for power and gold.
Bandits raid the caravans for wealth, supplies, and glory.
The knightly orders, powers unto themselves, grow restless without a war to fight.

To protect the peace and the people the King
has charged the Orders with a divine mission.
Defend the Pilgrims from all threats and plots.
Protect the Peace at all costs.

You are a knight of one such order.
Trained and sworn to a holy cause.
You’ve abandoned your past life, your station and your crimes, 
all in search of a new life as a crusader.
Why you left and why you’ve come is in your own keeping,
but in this place you are reborn.

Will you fight for glory? For gold?
Will you fight for honour?
Or will you stand for peace?

Will you do what is right, or will do the what is expected?

Defenders of the Pilgrim Road is a TTRPG about crusading knights and the struggle between doing the right thing and doing what your superiors tell you to do. It is thematically inspired by the Ridley Scott film Kingdom Of Heaven.
The games mechanics are based on Lasers & Feelings
by John Harper, with some additions of my own.

Buying this game unlocks access to:

• Digital Rule Book, an A5 size PDF version of the game, formatted for more convenient digital use.
• Print and Play Zine, a second version of the game designed to fit on a single sheet of paper, and with can be folded into an A5 zine.

Also included is easy to print version of the games character sheet. We were able to fit 4 character sheets on one piece of paper, so its very economical to print. This file is also listed as a free download.
